A metropolitan Children’s Exhibit of Art interpreting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

In this challenging time, this exhibit entitles children to envision a peaceful, harmonious, healthful, compassionate world which they can help create by this very process. Lillian Genser was inducted into the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame for her peace education of the past forty years. She is the former Director of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies and a nationally recognized peace activist. Please join us in honoring her and her efforts devoted to peace and education at the festivities. UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD

• The Right to affection, love and understanding
• The Right to adequate nutrition and medical care
• The Right to free education
• The Right to full opportunity for play and recreation
• The Right to a name and a nationality
• The Right to special care if handicapped
• The Right to be among the first to receive relief in times of disaster
• The Right to be a useful member of society and to develop individual abilities
• The Right to be brought up in a spirit of peace and universal brotherhood
• The Right to enjoy these rights regardless of race, color, sex, religion, national or social origin

"WAR" is composed of two sculptures. One depicts an Iraqi mother holding her wounded child in her arms. The other is an American soldier whose wounded buddy has collapsed against him, dropping his gun. The women is looking into the eyes of the soldier, who is weeping. He is looking into her face, which is filled with despair. The viewer can walk between the two sculptures and look, first into the soldier's eyes, and then turn to look into the mother's eyes -- seeing what each of them sees. The sculpture is dedicated to peace. It shows us the price of war in human terms.  Click here to view.

“WAR” is available for loan to galleries and organizations, public and private. It is is 28”h x 9”w x 6”l and weights 100 pounds. It can be exhibited indoors or outdoors. A deposit and shipping, handling and insurance fees are required. If you wish to exhibit the sculpture, please contact the artist. “WAR” has exhibited in over two dozens venues across the country since its creation in 2004.
